Colonial Timbers.

For most of my Dad's working life he was in the Timber industry. Early on in his career he learnt much about all the many types of wood throughout the world. Whilst continuing the task of sorting through his belongings, this morning I found a large wooden box containing samples of many different woods. The label declares that they are 'Colonial Timbers, Specimens issued by the Colonial Forest Resources Development Department'. They were based in Trafalgar Square but I have been unable so far to find any information about them. It is a fascinating find, there are so many different samples, all labelled with typewritten labels and names such as "Merbau, Opepe, East African Pencil Cedar, French Walnut and many more.
