Day 8
Day 8. Runcorn to Slaidburn. 63 miles with fair weather until the last 5 miles which were drizzle but we just beat the evening rain.
It's been quite a contrast today with busy towns;Warrington, Leigh, round Bolton and over Chew Moor (Mr PB liked the name). We climbed up onto said moor which were stunning, no sooner had we climbed a hill, then we were zooming down, making photography hard and I don't think I could have done the stunning scenery justice. Then down of the moor through Blackburn and up to the Forest of Bowland on to Slaidburn YHA. Some beautiful scenery and the towns were not as busy as we feared.
We are stayig at the YHA which is being run by volunteer wardens one must be 90+ and in no hurry. We were passed on the road by a gentleman who in conversation revealed that he has already had his 80th birthday, and it turns out he is meeting the 2 girls we met at the Severn Bridge. So, Mr PB, me and the gentleman all had the quickest shower so we could grab a table at the very popular pub across the road for dinner. We are now ensconced in The Hark to Bounty pub for dinner and a pint just waiting for the girls to arrive.
