Caution - Bee Inspector at work

Took a walk in Lytham Hall between the rain showers this afternoon. I usually visit the kitchen garden but it was closed. Notice on the gate said "Gardens closed during Bee Inspection". I know they have a number of hives next to the kitchen garden but I have no idea what a Bee Inspection entails. Whatever it is, here is an inspector inspecting a hive.
