Hardboiled

I had an early start to get back from Liverpool for a work day.

Between trains at Manchester Victoria I wandered round the station taking a few photos, as I do. I had a sense of being sussed out and engaged by the police and security, perhaps understandable given recent events nearby, but it did make me more self conscious than usual.

Looking out of this station I spied this neon sign high on an adjacent building. Parker's Hotel - once a pub, now apartments. For me it evoked Donald Westlake's (as Richard Stark) Parker character, but neon signs on buildings always have something of the noir and hardboiled about them.
