The Colours of Spring
It's been another day on the property (It's nice to not have to drive anywhere for a change), so today's blip is a home grown affair and features one of our lovely kowhai from the garden.
The vibrant yellow flowers, seen all through the valley at this time of year, are a magnet for nectar loving birds like Bellbirds and Keruru, as well as bees and hoverflies.
The birds have been amazing vocal today, with the sound of fantails, grey warblers and bellbirds filling the still spring air. Our pair of welcome swallows are busy gathering food and taking turnabout to mind their nest in our eaves and our pair of spurwing plovers in the top paddock are noisily guarding their newborn. Hopefully some of these characters will make it into future blips....
