Greenfinch

Brrrr!!  A good frost overnight so a very crisp and white start to to the day.  Still, that usually means a clear blue-sky day, and so it was today.  I have no idea how the poor birds manage their way through frosty nights without warm fires to cuddle up in front of!  No wonder they eat so much - pretty much a whole bottle of seed in just under a day (though a lot of the seed has ended up on the ground this time.  This lot is a different mix and there's one seed in particular that is very 'light' in this brand, the seed that is a bit bigger than the rest and has a positive effect stopping the smaller stuff from flowing directly out of the feeding holes.  The birds don't seem to mind, though I hope the spilled seed does't start to grow in the garden!!
