Spring Equinox
Poinsettias are at their best when there are equal amounts of light and dark during a 24 hour period, which just happens to be today!
Here in Australia, we have our spring equinox, but as those of you in the northern hemisphere would realise, it is your autumn equinox (well, that's a no-brainer really!!)
What you may not realise in the northern hemisphere is this : while the equinox is the official beginning to the new season in some parts of the world, in Australia our first day of spring is recognised as the first day of September.
My poinsettia, which is a potted plant and one I bought to brighten up the front veranda for Christmas last year, is looking super red, healthy and beautiful today. :)
