Lawers village

2 friends wanted to walk the full Lawers range (7 Munros and over 13 miles) but you don't finish where you start so they asked us if we would be interested in going along and providing extra transport. We readily agreed and Mr Rat decided he would run the range and I would do a couple of Munros and then drive to the other end to pick them up - saving taking 2 cars.
It was a day of wind, showers, low cloud and sun, improving as the day went on, and varying views - but the tops always disappeared just as we approached them. The extra gives some idea of the conditions and I had to change the camera battery to take it, not the easiest in the rain/wind).
I also managed to get a leg stuck in a bog and extricating myself was quite an effort - but I couldn't stay there!
Once at the rendezvous I didn't have long to wait for Mr Rat and once he'd dried out a bit we went into the hotel for tea and a seat. Then the weather improved so it was out for a wander and I went down to the lochside (Loch Tay) to find old Lawers village. It was never huge but did have a church and graveyard, ferry across the loch, a big house and several smaller ones but is now disappearing into the trees.
Just as I was finishing my exploration T phoned to say they were off the hill and would soon be at the car so their timing was spot on.
We then returned home and went to T's for a 1st class meal (after a shower) and a pleasant evening's chat, a great day all round.
