went visiting this afternoon and on the way back i went to Oswald's well...

Legend states that King Oswald (c604-5 august 642, was king of Northumbria from 634 till his death...) was killed in battle against King Penda at the battle of Maserfield.
An eagle lifted, flew and then dropped his arm at this site....from whence a spring of water has since bubbled.....

The name of our town in Welsh is Croesoswallt.....means Oswald's tree....
