Looking Toward Denmark Again!
Yesterday we ended up in north Germany, in Puttgarden, and we watched the sunset while looking north over the water toward Denmark. We woke up to a beautiful morning and enjoyed an early walk along the beach. Dolly wasn't too thrilled really - she's not really interested in any walks until much later.
We had a successful 45 minute crossing to Denmark on the ferry. We were both glad that they didn't enforce the muzzle rule on this one. There was some excitement after we were told that some of the crew would be conducting a training exercise - and then right outside our window they lowered a life raft with several crew in it and landed in the water, then sped away as if they were off to rescue someone! Can you imagine if WE did a training exercise at work in the middle of a flight? Or while taxiing to the gate?
Driving through Denmark is always such a pleasure! Everything is so pristine, the roads are smooth and traffic always seems to be light, even around Copenhagen. We crossed two bridges at Farø and then had the thrill of crossing the famous Öresund bridge between Copenhagen and Malmö. It's the longest combined road and rail bridge in Europe. The 8km (5 miles) bridge plus a 4km (2.5 miles) tunnel link Denmark and Sweden.
Once we had crossed the bridge we drove about 30 minutes to a campsite just north of Malmö. We are camping pretty much right on the beach! So we can see Denmark again this evening, this time looking south. What blessed girls we are! (See extra photos for a picture of our campsite and more of the sunset)
Tomorrow we reach our final destination!
