Doors open, doors closed

It's Doors Open day in Edinburgh today. We popped out to visit two venues: Lyon and Turnbull's auction house on Broughton Place, and the bus depot on Annandale Street. If you'd asked me this morning to predict what I might be blipping later in the day, I would have confidently predicted "buses".

However, this view of houses in Gayfield Street Lane, which I first spotted from the window at the back of the Lyon and Turnbull showroom, caught my attention. It just seems so out of place in the Edinburgh New Town, and looks more like something you might find in a European city such as Amsterdam. I also couldn't quite work out how you would get up to the doors.
