There are some hairy and dangerous interesting roads on Crete. We seem to have done 800km in second gear.

Parts of the road have slipped off the mountain into oblivion been rerouted. Sometimes the only warning you get is a single cone just where there is a landslip or lack of road. Add to that the locals driving in the middle of the road until you meet them and it makes for terrifying journeys that are not for the faint hearted.
