A remarkable development
We have possibly the most unproductive fig tree in the world - it is at least 40 feet high and 35 years old and it occupies most of the garden with its non reproductive vegetation. Yet today, for practically the first time in living memory, it yielded this single, ripe fruit. We have just eaten it - and very enjoyable it was, too - which is a good thing since the ratio of useless foliage to edible fruit is, in my estimation, at least 50,000,000 to one. So here's to the next 35 years!
