Thian Hock Keng Temple, Singapore

Day 29

The paintings on the entrance doors. A plank across the doorway protects the place from ghosts. You have to step over it, which ensures you bow your head when entering.

Built in 1839, it is one of Singapore's oldest Chinese temples.

Our last full day here. We began at the National Museum, on to Fort Canning and Raffles Terrace. We then walked to Chinatown for another look around, then headed to this temple. Hot and humid, 32C.

We decided to finish our day just as we had on our visit last year. Dinner at the Victorian style Lau Pa Sat Festival Market in the business district, then walked to Marina Bay for a last look at the Merlion, hotels, and preparations for the National Day events. A tear in my eye as we made our way back on the MRT and LRT. We've had a wonderful time here.
