End of a chapter

Jim's mum Pat sadly passed away on Friday. J was at Kendal Calling and wasn't aware of the news so had to keep it quiet. We have had a rollercoaster of a fortnight, she suffered from advanced dementia and then had a stroke 3 weeks ago. It looked like she might recover albeit without the 2 things she had left: mobility and the ability to eat. We have spent many hours at her bedside , reading "A street cat named Bob" to her, not the most appropriate book but the one I was part way through. She seemed to enjoy the voice and responded non verbally at times. However, a happy ending was not to be and she deteriorated. With her 2 sons and daughters in law at her bedside, she took her final breath on Friday and died very peacefully. It's a very strange feeling.....
