Happy birthday Switzerland

The first of August is Switzerland's National Holiday. 726 years ago they proclaimed their independence from the Holy Roman Empire and the Habsburg emperors.
The Swiss celebrate this day with parties, music and grand public and private fireworks. We spent the day with our daughter and her partner with a walk near Murten and a barbecue in the garden. Later around 10 p.m. we went to a place from where we could see a beautiful firework over the city of Bern. Naturally we also fired our own rockets as a lot of people did. It became quiet after 2 a.m.
