Whalton Village Show
Dry, sunny weather greeted visitors to Whalton Village Show today. It was the perfect day for one of the last shows of the season.
This is a grand local show, without the commercialisation of larger events. It was also almost mud free today. Apart from the usual industrial entries there were performances by Northumberland pipers, a silver band, a Ugandan choir, a contortionist, the Drakes of Hazard, alpacas, a dog show and the sheep racing.
This last event draws large crowds. It was very funny but I could not help thinking that the sheep would be confused and scared. Betting was encouraged - all in a good cause (the village hall fund). My money was on the red one in this race (of course).
