Agave Attenuata #2
On the 25th of July I posted an image of the Agave Attenuata plants in full bloom in Bundaberg. I've never seen anything quite like the flower before and that's because they often take many years to flower and sadly die after that event!!
We travelled down to Noosaville on our first day of our homeward journey last week and stayed at a wonderful place called Noosa River Retreat. Well what do you know, the tropical garden was full of these beautifully architectural plants and I was thrilled when I could give the owners of the property, Sandy and Steve the good news about the flowers they may well see in a few years time!!! I even showed them my blip :-) Imagine our absolute delight when we found the two baby Agave plants sitting outside our room the next morning.
CCN and I molly coddled them all the way home to Wombat Hollow and today found a couple of lovely planter pots for them to live in for the first part of their journey in the Blue Mountains. Rest assured they will be indoor plants. There's no way the wallabies are going to get a look in this time round, they're far too precious. We're both hoping that we will survive long enough to see them flower in their new home.
Just as an aside, we honestly have never encountered such wonderful hosts as Sandy and Steve. They were so welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We meet a lot of people in our travels, but these two were absolute winners. We can highly recommend their beautiful retreat if ever your passing through that way.
