And they're off!
We had to go into Stratford this afternoon, so decided to take the boys for a walk along the Greenway as we hadn't been there for some time. The Greenway is a footpath which used to be an old railway track, and the initial section runs alongside Stratford Racecourse.
We were just getting out of the car when we could hear someone talking over a loudspeaker system. It was race day! (We sadly missed a Blip Meet there a couple of weeks ago through "unexpected circumstances".)
We trotted down to get a better view and a few minutes later it was the 3:45 race. We watched that race and then continued on our walk.
On our way back we spotted a gigantic caterpillar walking across the stony footpath. C has got a much better photo of it and hopefully will upload it on his Blip page later on (Nikonabike). It's on there now. We've found out since we arrived back home that it was the caterpillar of the Elephant Hawkmoth, (Deilephila elpenor) so called because of its long snout which resembles an elephant's trunk.
After yesterday's pathetic emergency Blip, today was a positive plethora of photographic opportunities.
I've just Googled the results of this race and The Trigger (jockey Richard Johnson) won it - he's the one on the inside here in blue with yellow stars.
