Fairy Pools
Today was overcast, cooler and showery but as we had planned a rest day with lunch at the highly recommended Three Chimneys we felt quite lucky.
Lunch lived up to the restaurants hype which is not always the case. All of the food was locally sourced, cooked and presented superbly. Upon talking to the waiter he told us the meat was sourced from our landlady's son. She is known everywhere.
From the restaurant we decided on a lazy drive to the Fairy Pools which were heaving with people from what sounded to be most continents in the world. Fortunately most were leaving as it was late afternoon and as we strolled up the falls the number of people got fewer until briefly we were alone. How grateful we have been for recommendations off the beaten track, Skye is full to bursting with tourists.
In extra is Linda, our amazing landlady on her tractor. She lives alone, runs the holiday cottage, cares for 50 odd sheep, lambs them, shears them, feeds them morning and night. Makes crafts, an artist, and makes a variety of clothes and artwork with her own wool. All of which she sells in her craft shop next to her house. She has an envious garden and also this week won prizes for her vegetables at the local show. On top of all that she can talk for Britain, but then again in the winter she can go days without seeing anyone, so she needs to make up. She has lived in her house for 29 years having moved from the NE, her Geordie accent gives that one away.
