Peninsula Light

Past and present life - Ammonites, and Barnacles.

Kayaking trip from Rosemarkie to Eathie, and its former fishing station, with Phil and Susan.

We couldn't have had it any better with the conditions. Warm, with a light breeze and outgoing tide, that helped us along to Eathie. Whilst we had a break there, the tide direction changed, to start coming in, and the wind changed too. So we had the tide and wind to help us again on the return!

It was a spring tide, so it went way further out than normal. That combined with the light breeze meant the seabed could be seen for most of the trip. I knew there were quite a lot of Starfish in the area, but had never realised just how vast the numbers are. Thousands of them. The seabed seemed to be covered with them in some places. In others there were "just" lots of them.

Extras:
 - boats on the shore in a channel cleared through the rocks at Eathie.
 - snoozing kayaker on the beach below the restored fishing station bothy.
