The tomb of Robert Curthose 1051 - 1134
Robert Curthose was the first son of William the Conqueror who was buried at Gloucester Cathedral. No-one can adequately explain why his effigy is depicted in this unusual pose, but what is clear, is that he is depicted as having six fingers below the chainmail on his right hand.
