2017 Tuesday -- On the First Day of August

Carole King sings about the "First Day of August," and that song has been a favorite of ours for years. Then 5 years ago today, we walked through the little beach house for the second day in a row. We needed to look very closely to decide if we wanted to make an offer to buy it.

Carole King's song mentions chasing the sunrise from the mountains to the bottom on the sea. That's what we wanted to do this evening, so we drove north toward San Simeon so we could see the sunset over the ocean. The moment was spectacular and I took a zillion photos, but putting them in a sequenced collage takes away from the splendor.

So today was an anniversary of sorts. It wasn't for another two weeks (5 years ago) that we got the gumption to place an offer on the house. Doing that was quite scary; a huge financial episode!
