New Borns

Spring is a few weeks away, and with that comes calving.  Today is the first official start for calving for our herd, although we already have 12 cows that have calved.  Two born today are lovely little jersey heifer calves - ones that will be kept and bred to join our milking herd in two years time.

We had a cracker of a frost this morning.  White as.  And cold as.  The water was frozen at the cowshed, so we had to clean up from milking once the sun came out and the temperature rose.

So it's another start to the milking season.  Farmerboy's sleep in's are coming to a very quick end.
