Animal spirits

We took our refugee family to the local agricultural show - still a one-day affair and the high point of the year for farming families to see and be seen, display their stock and hobnob with friends and rivals.
One of our group is a farmer herself and her grandson was one of the many proud youngsters kitted out in a scaled-down handler's overall to parade a favourite  beast around the show ring.

Animals are a wonderful breaker-down of barriers and everyone enjoyed stroking the shampooed calves and patting the manicured sheep.
