We're on the road to nowhere...
Sometimes the gods smile upon you, and sometimes they just mess with your mind. Today's plan was a simple one - to nip into Bristol for lunch with Greg and Catherine.
Approaching the M5 at junction 14 it was clear the A38 beyond it was stopped, and as we approached the south entry for the M5 we could see that was too. No chance of a quick U-turn, so we hit the northbound M5 to loop around and choose a new route. Except that half a mile up that too came to a stop.
And then it hailed. I think the roof of the car remained intact. Not sure how.
It took ninety minutes to get to the next junction, turn around and find a way home. Knowing from the radio that all the lanes were now open didn't change our instinct for a home cooked lunch, because even as we watched the motorway came to another stop simply from the weight of traffic.
Turns out, from Greg, that the footie was on in south Bristol too, so I think perhaps he has a tale of his own to tell later. And all this on Charlotte's 23rd birthday. Where she's at currently she's used to monsoon weather... and right now having had lunch the sun is out and I'm putting shorts on.
British weather. Just can't tell.
