Architecture
This part of Ottobeuren has been smartened up over the last year. Just behind the marketplace but somehow had never noticed the building on the right, one of the old mills in the town, the "Lower Mill". According to the plaque in the extra photos, this was first built in 746, rebuilt in 1568 and until 1803 and Napoleon came to the area and messed about with who owned what, it was the monastery mill.
The basilica has at it's base, the old Ottobeuren brewery which is now home to an art museum.
