Old hedge

Another familiar landmark on a local walk. This hedgerow looks as if it has been here for a very long time, and is a favourite shady spot for the sheep that graze this field  from time to time. I think they graze off any low-growing shoots as well, leaving the gnarled and twisty trunks quite bare. 

We had a sudden hailstorm this afternoon but now the sun is out again and it's as if it never happened. I think the garden avoided getting shredded, thank goodness.
