Diary of an Edinburgher

A damp day out

Archie slept like a baby dog last night. Just as well, because if his 'turn' had happened again so soon, then it really would be serious. Let's hope it doesn't happen again for a looooong time.

We set off with Janet to the Foodies Festival at Inverleith Park. I knew from my weather app that it wouldn't rain so I set off without a coat or umbrella. You'd think, having lived in Scotland for a long time, that I'd know better...

However, as luck would have it, I was either in a tent, cafe, pub or bus when it was actually raining. But, being Day Three of an event in a wet park, there was no grass left - just MUD. I took my walking stick as it was quite far to walk, and it was a good help. Except in the mud...

We managed to get three spare seats in the wine tasting tent, but the chap waffled on too much, and Janet didn't want a wine anyway, so she scarpered, then texted from the next tent that she had front seats at a cookery demo. It wasn't really cooking, the chef was dismembering a huge leg of venison, bits of which he then cooked. But it was raining then, so we were happy to watch.

We then decided to head back to Stockbridge, and called in to the Raeburn Hotel, where we've been meaning to go for years, as it's dog friendly. It was busy, but we got a table, and had a delicious Sunday roast with an extra pot of gravy. Coffee and cake at another cafe followed. A good day out.

Archie had a good day out too with Elizabeth. She did 19,000 steps, so did Archie do twice that? Whatever, he's flat out on the sofa, snoring.

I'm enjoying the athletics coverage.
