Spotlight on Lucy Gould
The Corbridge Chamber Music Festival is over for another year.
This morning we had a late start and I prepared lunch to share with Jenny, Dennis and their daughter, Kate. That all went smoothly and we were able to eat and then leave in time for the afternoon concert at 3pm. This was a sandwich of music by Britten with a filling of Schubert!
The finale tonight was wonderful. We heard Haydn's Piano Trio in E minor, followed by Mendelssohn's String Quintet in B flat op 87 and finally Tchaikovsky's String Sextet: Souvenir de Florence.
At the time of my blip, Alice Neary, the 'cellist with the Goulds is saying the thank yous that come at the end of every festival. You see Lucy Gould listening with Michael Gurevich and Simone van der Giessen in the background. They were guest artists this year and were wonderful.
Lucy Gould is a powerhouse and I'm full of admiration for how she and Rob Plane (her husband) juggle very busy international careers with raising their 3 children. It can't be easy. Lucy is off to the Lake District for 2 concerts with the Goulds this week, then to Lucerne with Alice to play in the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Then a holiday!!
We can't wait for next year.
PS I took a bag of camera equipment today and was not asked to take any photos!
