Off Sicogon Island, Carles, Iloilo, The Phil

Main shot -- hubby snorkeling just off Sicogon Island, his underwater cam secured on his arm
Extra 1 -- a view of Sicogon Island itself, shot taken from our boat
Extra 2 -- a view of more islands on our way back to the mainland

Our second day of island-hopping.  Sicogon used to be THE place to go about 40 years or so ago, and then Boracay was discovered and then developed and consequently abused, and Sicogon was set aside, which was just as well.  We heard today that goddaughter C's company has struck up an agreement with the three brothers who own the island, that they will develop it but in a more responsible manner.  It will mean jobs for the locals and it will be cleaned in an eco-friendly way, so that could be good.  Sicogon is also known to my generation as the setting for a well-known B movie shot in the 70s -- 'Ang Pinakamagandang Hayop sa Balat ng Lupa' (never mind the translation), starring our first Miss Universe, the lovely Gloria Diaz (married now, of course).

On the ride back, we saw that it was raining on some islands to our right, while the sun shone fully on the islands to our left.  Our boat sailed cleanly in between, but it was quite a curious thing to see.  In real life, it's like this, too, I think.  Matter of choices, sometimes anyway.

We had fabulous weather, no?  Our luck has not yet run out.  Did we have a good day?  You think?
