A real gentleman- Bill Anderson

Today we went to the funeral of a very special man, Bill Anderson,  a retired lawyer, a man whose life and work has touched the hearts of  many people.

Well, we knew that it would be a big event. Even so when we got to St Saviours church, Bridge of Allan, with nearly half an hour to spare it was already full, standing room only.

His great passion was music and he was a chorus member of Scottish Opera. Two days before his sudden death at the age of 82 he was still singing.

His voluntary work covered sixteen organisations ranging from chairman of the Aberlour Child Care Trust to Vice president of Glasgow Orpheus Club, Honorary Sheriff and Chancellor of the Diocese of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane as well as Secretary to the vestry at St Saviour’s Episcopal church, in bridge of Allan.

Our paths crossed through a shared interest in gardening when he opened his garden, along with the small group of us in this area, to the public once a year under Scotland’s Gardens for charity.

And today his devoted family of children and grandchildren joined members of the church and friends with paying respects to a very special gentleman.
