Morning with the Chamois
Early this morning I came across a herd of 20 or so, chamois, whilst I was photographing 2 marmots. I wondered what the marmots were looking at and then I spotted the herd before they saw me and managed to hide behind a rock. What a magical hour I had, watching them grazing, the youngsters trying to feed from their Mums who clearly were no longer interested and shook them off. Then the noise of a helicopter started up on the other side of the mountain and the chamois started their way up scree and onto a cliff face (see https://www.flickr.com/photos/hilarysview/?) . Although the noise had spooked them it was quite amazing for me to see these agile creatures climbing easily and quickly to "safety". There is one of these photos in Extras in case you haven't time to go into Flickr.
