Flaky day

The big August building works started at Waterloo today, accompanied by dire predictions. So much for train apocalypse. The timetables were different but it wasn't the end of commuter civilisation as we know it.

I was only on the train at all because TSM had one of those "oh shit" moments after getting out of the shower and realised she had an appointment at a local hospital at 9.40. But at the other end of the day I was similarly and spectacularly forgetful, going off to meet a colleague for pizza and taking the car keys - that TSM needed to get home - with me. Fortunately said colleague gave me a lift back before it got too late.

I saw this rusty rail on Leatherhead station. Maybe my brain is going similarly flaky. But I thought this was quite nice in a funny sort of way. But then rust can be quite beautiful.

Upsides to today: discovered the river and streets below Dorking which are lovely. And Pizza Express do an excellent vegan pizza ...
