Bird on a stick

We went down to the nature reserve, but saw nothing interesting apart from a distant heron.

If you look carefully there are actually nails in the top of the post, and the gull has one foot up on top of a nail.  It doesn't look very comfy but it was there for ages, and if it left to go on the water it soon returned to the post!
