MonoMonday - Old
I asked Hubby this afternoon if he had some old tools i could photograph for today's MM theme of old. I have blipped a couple before but not this old 'Breitbeil' or broad axe. It is about 100 years old and hand forged. I forgot to ask if he had ever used it - certainly not for a long while judging by the cobwebs and rust. It was used by carpenters for hewing - to make a square edge from a round log. I watched a youtube video and it is fascinating. Sorry the link is in German but it was the best demonstration. The two at the back at the start of the video are using the broad axe and are wearing the old traditional Zimmerman or carpenter's uniform.
Thanks to TheAphid for hosting.
