Candy hearts

I've never been to Hamburger Heaven, but I grew up spotting it on occasional drives through Elmhurst. I still pass this place (in order to get to I-294 from my house), but I no longer feel the need to stop there for a hamburger or a milkshake, because I don't eat meat anymore.

My stepmom worked there in the 70's -- when she was in high school -- so I think of her every time I pass this joint. I can't believe the 2-year anniversary of her death is coming up soon.

Is it appropriate to use the word 'anniversary' to describe a person's death date?
