Tropical water Lily

My son brought this tropical water lily from Texas. He also brought me a more hearty waterlily. Hmm! Do I mean Hardy?

Anyway, the hearty waterlily refuses to bloom, but the tropical Lily continues to bloom. Go figure! Maybe it is because both water lilies flew up on an airplane??????
