Make do and mend

My grandmother would be so proud. The lovely, soft leather ever so comfy loafers I got from the charity shop a little while ago need mending. So instead of taking them round to the independent cobbler about five minutes walk away we got out the superglue, the clamp and a couple of books to do the job. This is shoe number two; shoe number one was done earlier.

The second of the books involved in the operation is 'Fatherland' by Robert Harris. I've not read either of them.
