Matilda does me proud
Back Blip for the 6th August, posted on the 8th. Please look at the others from the weekend. ;o)
The MMO* 5th National Gathering at Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire.
I was given a very special gift by a fellow member from Scotland on the Saturday. He was the one who built Matilda's roof rack. He has built a machine that will carve wood using a frame, cross arms, a router and some programmable processors. The gift was a carved image of Matilda with her name, as seen inside her windscreen above (thumbnail).
The show went really well but I was too busy to take many photos or even get a good look around the main arena. It was our first running of the Rocker Cover Derby and 12 racers were built. Each of us raced each other twice (once on each side of the track) and the top 4 went into the semi final.
My racer won 17/20 races in the knockout section and made it into the final after a run off when it came equal second in the semi. The plaque on the left was for my 2nd place having lost to an engineering wizard who didn't lose a single race all day!
Later in the day all our real cars were inspected by 2 independent judges provided by the MG Owners Club who run the main event. To my surprise** Matilda was given 2nd in Class!
All in all I think most the members came away very happy with the weekend. Hopefully a few more will attend next year and the MG guys and dolls will start building some rocker cover racers...

** Not being harsh but some of the other Minors on show are far better in quality but maybe she is nearer to original than others.
