England Is Mine
Met up with my friend, Linda, today to watch England Is Mine which is the biopic about Morrissey pre The Smiths. Only a handful of cinemas showing it so we met at the Trafford Centre. We went for a midday showing as neither of us wanted to get stuck in traffic. When we bought drinks from Costa, the guy behind the counter asked what we were up to and then looked very perplexed when we told him! People either get Morrissey or they don't and he obviously doesn't. I won't review the film because I'm the kind of person who never wants to know whether something has a good or bad review, I'd much rather see and judge for myself. I enjoyed it and came out feeling nostalgic.
Good to have a catch up with Linda too. We talk about everything and nothing. We were saying how we hold silly little events inside that have bothered us in the past. I was saying how I once bought my Mum a tin of rose scented talc for Mother's Day, wrapped it up and couldn't wait to give her this wonderful present. On Mother's Day I woke her up about 7am and got her to open the present which she hardly acknowledged and went back to sleep. I was devastated!! Linda said she once bought her Dad a hand held mop for washing the car which she thought was the best present ever. She wrapped it and put it under the tree for Christmas. In the run up to Christmas, her Dad would pick the present up and try to guess what it was by feeling it. On Christmas Day when he opened it, his face literally dropped and Linda was devastated. We were laughing so much about silly things like this today but it made me think that, whatever I'm bought by my three, I'll appreciate it!! Ha.
