Nopal

A rare same day post for me as we are off tomorrow morning for a quick jaunt inland so I won't be posting again until Saturday. This guy, in front of my favorite wall at the market, is cutting the spines of nopal cactus (used in salads and sometimes pickled). He sits all day long in this same spot, doing the same thing. I have never seen anyone buy from him, but somehow the nopal disappears so it must be a worthwhile venture. Love the symmetry of the the umbrellas, which will certainly be necessary later on when the sun reaches full force.
