Pompeii...

A visit that had to be cut short because of the heat, and fire in The National Park so the visit to Vesuvius couldn't happen. VERY busy with visitors too and we were really glad we had visited Herculaneum yesterday. An excellent guide though which made it another fascinating day. She shared so much with us in a very entertaining way! 

I post an iconic image from the city. The only body we saw and we learnt just how these have been preserved for us to see. Very interesting!

After lunch we were taken to The Royal Palace in Naples...very grand. The wide and tapered staircase was especially designed to accommodate the wide and grand royal residents so that they could use it safely without having to lower their eyes! How thoughtful!
