Flaming Gorge
Up early to drive to Dinosaur National Monument where there is a rock wall stuffed full of dino bones. They got washed down by a river, trapped, solidified and exposed when the sea bed was pushed upwards as the crust folded. No time for pondering, straight onto Flaming Gorge National Park, I was last here about three years ago when there was less haze and snow on the ground, but the view is still awesome nonetheless. Drove home via the McConkie ranch which houses an amazing collection of petroglyphs in easy reach. They operate an honours system of $2 entry and $1 for a soda, just put the money in a tin box, amazingly everyone seems to compile. Back home for beers on the porch as the sun sets
