Villa Finzi
We have travelled through the mountains to the environs of Rome prior to our flight home tomorrow.
We have a night here just outside the ancient town of Palestrina in the hills south of Rome. The Villa Finzi is up a long lane from the main road in tranquil surroundings.
Lovely people - the lady of the house originates from South Africa and speaks perfect English and her husband is a native of Le Marche the region we have just left. They were wonderfully welcoming and their house is full of an amazing and eclectic mix of modern art works and wonderful old furniture - plus a lovely old English setter and a tabby cat with three kittens.
This picture is the floor in our bathroom with the sun coming in through the window. The same beautiful tiles were throughout the ground floor and up the stairs.
We spent the afternoon climbing the streets of Palestrina before settling in the a piazza for a drink and watching the wonderful spectacle of an Italian wedding in the Duomo. Great entertainment - especially the young women in improbable heels negotiating the cobbles in the square!
