Stairs

Well - a days of firsts.

After breakfast I forgot to close the stairgate after Ben had gone to the toilet, heard a noise, ran round to find Charley halfway up the stairs! Typically, in my rush, I left the camera on the table and didn't dare go and fetch it.

Church: on time getting me and the boys there for the first time in goodness knows how long.

Church again: Charley played with my ribbons while I danced, then went to creche. Left him there with some snacks and nipped to the loo - to find the Sparklers kids queueing up waiting to use the disabled toilet one by one because the regular toilets were out of order and the other ones were locked. Aaargh! Then Ben saw me and didn't want to leave me. He looked like he was ready to dissolve into tears when they went back to Sparklers. Been a very long time since he's been like that. Anyway got back to creche eventually to find - no crying. I wondered if Charley had escaped! But no, there he was, playing at the craft table, happy as anything.

Well I'll be.

So I got to sit in the main meeting for a bit!!

Only 10 minutes, until Charley decided it was naptime, but that's amazing.

After the service Ben found Jacob and pretty much followed him round everywhere. His Sparklers teacher Gina found me at one point and said you do know where your son is don't you? Apparently he was under the stairs outside the Sparklers room - that's all the way down the corridors and across the courtyard! I asked if he was with anyone and he was with Jacob so that was ok ;-)

We spent the afternoon with Stuart and Hayley, watching the rain, eating and chatting, letting Ben get his fill of their kids. Was a lovely afternoon. We'd realised this morning that we'd gone the whole summer without meeting up!!

Home and into bed for the boys and me. Nothing quite like being all cuddled up and warm under a duvet, in a nice cold bedroom, listening to the rain falling outside :) very comforting, somehow! Charley was allowed to climb the stairs all the way to the top this evening (with Steve behind him). I'm going to have to be on the ball about keeping the stairgate shut. Until he's mastered getting down the steps on the landing, I'd rather not have him wandering upstairs by himself!

And my eyes won't stay open so I'll let Steve watch the grand prix in peace :)
