Sweet smelling

Daphne of course.  And such a straggling sad looking little bush it is.  Desperately in need of a feed.  As I remember rightly it's an acid soil lover, so I've got to go to the shop and get the right stuff.  Most Adelaide soils are heavily alkaline, and acid soil lovers do struggle. But you can make them work, with a bit of effort.

I reckon it's done really well to survive, so I shall make it my business to look after it.

A very good Committee meeting for me today at Old Government House - I've got a new garden shed, in a very desirable spot,; everybody said I can get rid of the yew tree that has been planted far too close to the front door.  We are agreed to put a camellia in the same place, which is far more attractive, and another winter flower.  We are going to buy a bird bath, which will be a very good addition to the garden; and if any one knows of a Victorian toilet going begging, replica or real, I don't care which, you might let me know.

Still excited about my work in Belair National Park.
