Critical Mass

Could we have arrived at the critical mass of tourists necessary before the City of Edinburgh's infrastructure implodes?

Having taken the bus through town to visit daughter #1 at a gallery in Hanover Street, I can say with certainty that I have never in any city anywhere seen so many people crushed into one square mile. It was a seething mass of humanity.

The pedestrians anywhere near Princes Street, the High Street or GeorgeIV Bridge were overspilling onto the roadway as they moved shoulder to shoulder like a turbid river to their next destination. I can see absolutely no pleasure in spending time like this.

I considered myself lucky that I was on the top deck of a bus and could witness this sea of people from a position of relative tranquility
