Dont Mind If I Do......
So, as I mentioned yesterday, Gav my F&B Manager came back to work last night, so things were going to become much easier......lol....that was the plan anyway....hehehe...lol, well, we became unexpectedly busy tonight, and even though I was covering 9am - 5pm, because we were also a member of staff down, guess who had to stay on.......hmmm...tough I know.....lol yes, that would be me!!!!....
I really didnt mind to be perfectly honest, as I was enjoying spending some time with Gav....that guy is so knowledgeable when it comes to wines, I am in awe....literally like a wee sponge sucking in all his information!!!!
Anyway, so Gav was host tonight, and I was in the restaurant with the new girl Carolyn....and it really was quite comical, because, as he brought each bottle of wine to the guests table, I was standing, corkscrew at the ready, to help him out....lol....its really quite difficult to do anything at all with a stookie on one arm!!!!
SO, anyway, at 9pm tonight, Gav let me go home, and said the heavenly words..."choose a bottle to take home"!!!!!....OMG !!!!!
Yes, to primarily thank me, and secondly to further my knowledge of wines hahaha....epic excuse, he gave me a bottle to take home with me.......
He chose this, something alot different to what I would normally go for.....
Iona.. The Gunnar....a South African Cabernet Sauvignon,Merlot and Petit Verdot, and is truly spectacular to say the least!!!!!
To the nose initially, you get the robust flavours of the Cabernet, followed closely behind by an explosion of Lavender, violet, and then plum, liquorice and star anise depths!!!!
On the Palate, it is literally heaven, velvet, and more....it drinks like a very early Shiraz...... but with severe class, and a taste of gooseberry left behind .....my take anyway....hmmmm !!!!!
Euphoria literally!!!!....and all for me....hehehehehe
You know its strange, I really appreciate Gav doing this for me, as well as getting me an extra day off next week, but you know, I have done it because Gav is a colleague, someone I hold in very high regard, and a very very good friend and man.......
Its kinda my job as well, but doing something I love, with someone I respect, makes it so much easier!!!!
So, Im going to go and discover this beautiful wine in some more depth......so, until the hangover kicks in tomorrow....... Enjoy........xxx
