Amisfield Walled Garden Open Day

This walled garden, practically the only remnant of the estate here, has gone from a neglected site to a thriving community garden in the last 10 years, and has just won an 'Outstanding' level 5 award from Keep Scotland Beautiful.  So we went to the Open Day this afternoon to admire it, and met up with our friend who chairs the Trust looking after it, encouraging a band of around 60 volunteers to develop and maintain the site.  It's well worth a visit sometime if you are in the area.  They also have school groups coming in to do some work - teachers out there take note :)
